About this Screening Room
Following their first Art21 feature in Season 9 of Art in the Twenty-First Century, we caught up with Djurberg and Berg on the occasion of their most recent gallery exhibition, where they spoke to us about the range of emotions that go into creating a work of art. Premiering here, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg Share Their Feelings is an intimate look at the artistic duo’s clay-animation films and sculptures.
In this special presentation, viewers are invited to learn about the motivations and process behind the pair’s work and then view, in their entirety, the four artworks discussed in the film, generously provided by the artists and Tanya Bonakdar Gallery. Collectively, the works convey a complicated intersection of emotions—from joy to sorrow, fulfillment to disappointment, longing to repulsion—and that, as Djurberg puts it, “not one emotional state has ever lasted.”
This presentation was on view exclusively on Art21.org through May 5, 2020.
Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg Share Their Feelings will remain on permanent view along with over 60 hours of film in the Art21 library.
