Art21 at the Movies Opening Night

Opening Night of Art21 at the Movies at Metrograph kicked off with a red carpet hour to welcome artists, filmmakers, trustees, and Art21 supporters. The night featured the premiere of a never-before-seen Art21 digital film alongside the premiere screening of “Friends and Strangers,” the third and final episode of Season 11 of Art in the Twenty-First Century featuring Linda Goode Bryant, Miranda July, Christine Sun Kim, and Cannupa Hanska Luger. “Friends and Strangers” filmmaker Chiemi Karasawa graced the event, as well as artists Linda Goode Bryant, Miranda July, and Cannupa Hanska Luger. Opening Night also featured the premiere of “Esteban Cabeza de Baca’s Time Travels,” a New York Close Up film directed by César Martínez, with remarks from the artists and filmmakers. The evening culminated with an afterparty energized by DJ Jennifly, refreshments, cocktails, and photo ops with artists and filmmakers.

Art21 at the Movies’ Premiere Committee includes the Art21 Board of Trustees, Garth Greenan Gallery, Agnes Gund, and Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art.
