Big Night of Shorts
On September 27, 2024, Art21 hosted Big Night of Shorts, a memorable evening celebrating recent film releases. Held at The Paley Center for Media, the event brought together an audience of artists, filmmakers, and art enthusiasts.
Featured films included a diverse range of artists and art practices: “Amy Sillman: To Abstract,” “Drake Carr’s Favorite Thing,” “Ilana Harris-Babou’s Guide to Health & Happiness,” “Naudline Pierre: A Place Other Than Here,” and “Kerry James Marshall: ‘Now and Forever,'” as well as the world premieres of “Puppies Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo): Radical Transparency” and “Sincerely Yours, Hadi Falapishi.”
In attendance were featured artists Amy Sillman, Drake Carr, Ilana Harris-Babou, Puppies Puppies Puppies (Jade Kuriko-Olivo), and Hadi Falapishi, alongside film directors Andrea Chung, Drew De Pinto, Haimy Assefa, Ian Forster, and Jurrell Lewis. Emma Nordin, Director of Education, and Tina Kukielski, Susan Sollins Executive Director and Chief Curator, gave welcoming remarks.
Attendees had the opportunity to mingle with artists and filmmakers at a lively reception with light refreshments and passed hors d’oeuvres. The evening provided a platform for engaging conversations, fostering new connections, and celebrating art on the big screen.
Art21’s Big Night of Shorts was a resounding success, showcasing the impact of short-form filmmaking and inspiring audiences with its diverse range of artistic visions.
