Donor-Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle that allows you to make a tax-deductible donation today and then recommend gifts (known as grants) to charities from the fund over time. DAFs are a convenient and tax-efficient way to facilitate charitable giving and achieve your philanthropic goals.
Click the button below to access our DAF widget, which allows you to link to your DAF directly. If your fund is not listed in the widget, please go directly to your DAF’s website and choose Art21 as the charity of choice when directing a donation.
If you already have a DAF and would like to send a gift to Art21 for the benefit of the organization, your fund administrator may send a check payable to Art21:
Art21, Inc.
Attn: Development
231 West 29th Street, Suite 706
New York, NY 10001
Art21’s tax identification number is: 13-3920288
If you have questions or your fund administrator prefers to send funds via a wire, please contact Grace LeCates, Development Assistant, at 201-389-8797 or [email protected].
Donate Artwork to a Donor-Advised Fund
Art21 is pleased to share a simple yet impactful way to support our work by contributing artwork to fund a donor-advised fund (DAF).
Here’s how it works:
If you’re considering deaccessioning works from your collection, you can gift the artwork to a DAF, take a tax deduction on the gift, forgo paying capital gains tax when the work is sold, and use the resulting proceeds to support the charitable organizations you care about most.
This simple, high-impact approach offers:
- Immediate tax deduction
- No capital gains tax realized on the appreciation of the artwork
- No selling costs for the owner
- Strategic sales strategy through auction or privately
- Flexible, long-term giving via the DAF, with the ability for funds to grow over time through investments
This is a unique opportunity to transform artwork into capital to support Art21’s mission of educating and expanding access to contemporary art through the production of documentary films, resources, and public programs.
If you have questions or would like to discuss the opportunity further, please contact Lolita Fierro, Director of Development, at [email protected].
