New York, New York—April 13, 2026—For artist Camille Henrot, every medium is a way of thinking. Premiering April 22, Art21’s latest documentary follows Henrot’s practice across painting, sculpture, and film as she completes a new film ahead of its debut at the recently reopened New Museum in New York City.

Directed by Adam Golfer, the film premieres online on Wednesday, April 22, at 12 pm ET on Art21.org and YouTube

Whether grinding pigments, sifting through references, or applying gestural strokes across multiple canvases, Henrot embraces speed and openness.

“I’m not attracted to a medium per se,” says the artist. “I’m more attracted by an idea, a way to operate, or a process.”

The Art21 film follows Henrot from her New York studio, where she mines her vast archive of images to create new paintings and drawings, to a Paris foundry, where she crafts a new body of bronze sculptures. It also joins her in an edit suite as she develops her latest film, In the Veins (2026), which considers how screens have introduced a new proximity to global catastrophes and how this shapes our perception of the world.

“Camille is in perpetual motion, and a lot of the film was trying to learn her rhythms: in the studio, in the editing room, in the foundry,” explains Adam Golfer. “Her interests are wide ranging but her ‘hand’ and her particular way of looking at the world held things together no matter what she was working on.” Shooting the film over the course of a year allowed the director to “accumulate material and observe the work changing and evolving in real time.”

He adds, “It was a peek into her constantly shifting processes, and I feel lucky to have been a part of it.”
