Art21 Releases New Film: “Richard Misrach: Never the Same”

New York, New York – Art21 is proud to announce the premiere of “Richard Misrach: Never the Same” on May 11 at 12:00 PM ET. The third 2022 release of Art21’s digital film series, Extended Play, “Richard Misrach: Never the Same” offers a look into the work and creative process of the American photographer.
“I know the viewer can’t think what I’m thinking, and that’s fine,” says Richard Misrach of his work. “But I wanted everything here to have a conceptual foundation. 50 years looking back, I realize I needed beauty in my life.” While at work in the San Francisco Bay Area, photographer Richard Misrach reflects on his decades-long career, realizing that there is still more to learn about photography and himself after all this time.
“Richard’s way of working was immensely inspiring to us as documentarians. We saw ourselves reflected in his process,” say Ava Wiland and Rafael Salazar Moreno, the film’s directors. “To him, the distance of time, and the editing process, reveal entirely new ideas and meaning.”
