Art21 at Art Basel Miami Beach

Art21 was proud and excited to participate in Miami Art Week 2022. In addition to hosting two events—a private brunch and evening film screening—we explored many of the most prominent art fairs including Art Basel, Untitled, NADA, and Scope. We also had the opportunity to attend events, including a panel hosted by ARTNews and a Bloomberg reception with exhibition viewing at Pérez Art Museum Miami. Our brunch event, hosted at SLS South Beach with the support of Blue Rider Group, Risk Strategies, and Patterson Belknap, was attended by a wonderful mix of artists, new friends, local Miami leadership, and longtime supporters of the mission of Art21 who joined us from across the country.

Our film screening event was hosted at Rooftop Cinema Club South Beach, a beautiful venue with amazing panorama views of Miami. The program featured four Art21 films including Azikiwe Mohammed is a Guy Who Makes Stuff and Diane Severin Nguyen’s Transfigurations, which premiered online earlier this year. We also featured the first public screening of Richard Mosse: What the Camera Cannot See and the world premiere of Charles Gaines: Systems and Structures

We had the pleasure of being joined by the artists Azikiwe, Diane, and Richard, all of whom shared a few words about their experiences working with Art21. While Charles Gaines could not attend, he submitted remarks for us to share with the audience in lieu of his presence. The event was attended by friends and supporters of Art21 from across the country, including members of our Board of Trustees, representatives from Creative Time, the Met, and Jack Shainman Gallery.
