Art21 Invites Organizations to Host Free Screenings of Documentary Films About Contemporary Artists

Starting April 3, 2025, Art21 invites you to host a free screening of films featuring artists Linda Goode Bryant, Sarah Sze, Josephine Halvorson, Rose B. Simpson, and Michael Rakowitz—celebrating the new book “Artists and the Unknown”

New York, New York (April 3, 2025) – Art21 announces the latest season of Screening Society, a program that welcomes local communities to gather and watch films about art together. By providing free access to documentary films about contemporary artists, Screening Society promotes conversation, inspires creative thinking, and broadens engagement with contemporary art.

In celebration of Art21’s newest book, Artists & the Unknown: Art21 Interviews with Artists, this season of Screening Society provides a selection of films featuring artists who explore how we use randomness, mystery, and unknowability to try to answer some of life’s biggest questions.

Beginning April 3, 2025, any organization or community group—whether a school, university, library, museum, senior center, or beyond—is welcome to host a free public screening of the following films:

Linda Goode Bryant in “Friends and Strangers”
“Sarah Sze: Emotional Time”
Rose B. Simpson in “Everyday Icons”
“Josephine Halvorson is on the Clock”
“Michael Rakowitz: Haunting the West”

Through Screening Society, Art21 provides everything needed to host a public screening—at no cost. Hosts simply sign up online, receive access to the materials, and press play.
