Spring 2022 Internships

Art21 is now accepting applications for our spring 2022 internship program.

Internships at Art21 offer individuals a unique opportunity to learn about contemporary art, art education, public programs, fundraising, and arts administration. Interns are an important part of the Art21 community and are given exposure to all aspects of the organization. 

The spring 2022 program will be mainly remote with some in-person office days and events. Selected candidates will be asked to work hours from 10 am to 6 pm EST, commute to New York City as needed, and provide their own computer with video capabilities. Interns are asked to commit to two days every week.

Art21 offers a small stipend to participating interns. 


Spring 2022 Internships

Education Intern

The internship will run from February 14 to July 15, 2022. The deadline to apply is January 28th.  

The Education intern must attend the Art21 Educators Summer Institute which is in NYC from July 5 through 9th.

Art21’s Education intern will have the opportunity to work closely with Art21 staff on a range of projects, from teacher professional development to public screenings. The intern will assist in the planning and execution of various short- and long-term projects including Art21 Educators, Art21 Ambassadors, and Screening Society, maintaining database information, drafting correspondence and proposals, helping to design various outreach and educational materials, and providing support with administrative tasks.

Applicants should be detail oriented, organized, motivated, and self-directed. Strong writing and research skills are preferred.

Occasional evening and weekend work will be necessary.

Required skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work to a deadline
  • Experience with Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) or equivalent word processing software

Interns are asked to commit to working 2 days (16 hours) per week. This internship will be conducted remotely with occasional in-person requirements. Applicants should be prepared to provide their own computer, equipt with video conferencing capabilities, for the duration of the internship.

Development Intern 

Art21 is seeking a Development Intern. The internship will run from Feb. 14 to May 27, 2021. The deadline to apply is Jan. 28.  

Art21’s Development intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the development team on projects related to the fundraising activities of the organization. The intern will assist in the production and execution of virtual and in-person special events, including fundraising and membership programs. In addition, the intern will perform various short- and long-term projects including donor research, maintaining the supporters database, drafting grant proposals and reports, helping to design various outreach and marketing materials, and providing support with administrative tasks. 

Applicants should have strong writing and research skills, as well as a high attention to detail. The Art21 Development Internship will provide relevant skills and experience to individuals seeking a position in fundraising at an arts non-profit organization. 

Interns are asked to commit to working 2 days (16 hours) per week. This internship will be conducted remotely with occasional in-person requirements. Applicants should be prepared to provide their own computer, equipt with video conferencing capabilities, for the duration of the internship. They must also be available to help in-person surrounding an early May fundraising event.
