New Season of “Art in the Twenty-First Century” Premieres this September

Last night, at a gala celebrating our 21st anniversary, we announced a new season of our Art in the Twenty-First Century television series, premiering this September on PBS. Continuing the thematic focus introduced in the previous season, the new season draws upon artists’ relationships with the places where they live and work: Berlin, Germany; Johannesburg, South Africa; and the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA.

The new season—our ninth—is presented in three parts and reveals the stories of twelve innovators and, in a series first, a nonprofit art center.

Season 9 of Art in the Twenty-First Century premieres September 21, 2018 on PBS.

Full episodes and segments can be streamed right here on Art21.org, as well as on PBS.org and PBS streaming platforms.

Stay tuned for more updates about the new season—including first looks at the season’s featured artists—as we continue to celebrate our 21st anniversary throughout the year.
